I fully supported the added measures we are taking in Peel Region to mitigate the rapid and dangerous spread of COVID 19 in Peel.
I supported it because lives are at stake.
No amount of negative, hateful and offensive social media or phone messages will change that; sometimes the right thing to do isn’t the easiest or the most popular.
I have been in daily personal contact with many business owners and for the most part they understand this is a crisis. Some have chosen to stay closed and apply for the relief funding while others have again adapted. These are tremendously challenging times for them.
Here are the facts:
Caledon is a part of Peel Region
Peel’s municipal borders are fluid and open
Residents commute for work and appointments across the Region
Caledon’s COVID positivity rate is higher than Mississauga‘s
At this moment there are people, young and old fighting for their lives in ICU beds in Peel Region
Hospitals across the Region are OVER capacity
It’s time for a reality check, if we don’t get this pandemic under control by adhering to the new measures then we will be forced again in full lock down. Ultimately, the outcome will be a reflection of our actions and decisions.
Tomorrow at 6:00pm Peel’s Medical Officer of Health will join me for a COVID 19 Town Hall and I will put to him all of questions and comments I have received from Caledon residents and businesses.
To listen in to the Town Hall on November 10th 6:00pm

I want to acknowledge and thank the many residents who are responsibly practicing the core four protocols and who I know will follow these control measures. For those who are questioning the measures, I urge you to take this seriously to protect yourselves, your families, friends and community. We will get through this.
